Beta 2 Concept Art - Click them for full size images
The following is in-progress concept art that we're using as the basis for the creation of all new player class models and skins in Beta 2. As always we appreciate your feedback and welcome your input on our forums. To download Q3F Beta 1 go here.

Recon
The Recon is the fastest class in Q3F and as such is also the lightest armoured. Bobo has tried to portray this through the use of limited armor (hands and legs), extra muscle and speed boots.

Sniper
Keeping each class distinguishable was one of the primary targets we gave our Concept Artist, and so for the Sniper (who's lightly armoured and of average speed) things were kept quite simple.

Soldier
Quake 3 is a futuristic game, and while the Q3F theme is fairly contemporary, we felt that if anyone would be likely to benefit from advanced combat armour it'd be the Soldier. Notice also that his has arm-strengthening units to sustain the incredible weight of hid primary weapon - the Rocket Launcher.

Grenadier
We've always liked the individuality of our existing Grenadier, and while we're working on new models for many of his weapons, the inspiration for the player class model itself came straight from our Beta 1 skin.

Paramedic
Everyone knows that the main part of being a Paramedic should be saving people, though in Q3F that's only half his job. Infecting the enemy or filling them full of nails is one of his main pastimes, and as such Bobo felt he needed a slightly more evil air about him. Friend or foe, he's there to cut you up.

Minigunner
Biggest class, biggest weapon and most heavily armoured. What else could we do except the above? :)

Flametrooper
Flame-retardant clothing was the first item on Bobo's list when he set about creating concept art for the napalm loving class of Q3F. Bobo then merged this knowledge with the well known fact that most Flametroopers are essentially fire loving lunatics, and came up with this drawing to inspire our modellers.

Agent
We were so tempted to go for the secret agent look, but in the end settled more on the outdoor adventurer type. This guy is no suit wearer after all - he has every weapon and gadget you need to infiltrate, confuse and 'deactivate' enemy facilities. In this first version of his design, we've tried to create the feel of a guy who lives on the edge.

Engineer
Cute as his builders hat was in Beta 1, we decided to bring the Engineer kicking and screaming in to the new millennium. The look is very contemporary, but when you consider this class carries Pulse Grenades, fires a Rail Gun and builds Autosentries, we think the idea of him looking a bit more up to date seems more cohesive.
