QuakeCon 2000 - The Q3F Team Diary : Introduction
Around three months ago, the Q3F team became aware of an opportunity to travel out to Mesquite, Texas and meet id Software.
Naturally the idea of attending QuakeCon 2000 and meeting id Software at the same time was very attractive, so we set about making plans. Id Software also set aside 10 machines so that we could show off our mod, and advised various people of our arrival so that we could make lots of new contacts while we were there.
In a weird sense this diary isn’t as open as it could be - in most cases this is due to the commercially sensitive nature of many of the things we were shown, or not wanting to talk publicly about things the various people we met have promised us until we’re sure they can actually deliver. Each day we listed anything between two and four pages of contacts made, help secured, advice sought, but our view is simply don’t count your chickens until they hatch :)
Wherever this is the case, I talk excessively about beer instead :)
This then is the diary of that trip to Texas. We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to those who made this trip possible - you know who you are.
